The problem this solves

A data centre is not a room with racks in it. It is power, cooling, fire protection, access control, surveillance, containment and cabling, all sized against the same load and commissioned together. Most of the pain in this category comes from those disciplines being bought separately and meeting for the first time on site.

The other half of the pain is capacity. Facilities get sized for the load on the day they open, and three years later there is no power headroom left and nowhere to put another rack.

Why it matters

This is the room your business runs out of. When it goes down, everything downstream goes with it, and the recovery time depends almost entirely on decisions made during design: whether there is redundancy, whether the UPS actually holds long enough for the generator to pick up, whether anyone can find the drawing showing which circuit feeds which rack.

Every one of those is cheap at design stage.

And expensive afterwards. A redundancy decision costs a conversation now and a rebuild later.

What we deliver

  • Facility design. New build or upgrade of an existing room, sized against load and growth
  • Raised floor and containment. Floor, tray and hot or cold aisle configuration
  • Power distribution. UPS sizing and installation, PDUs, generator interface
  • Cooling. Capacity design and aisle configuration to the target density
  • Security and fire. Access control, surveillance and fire detection interface, designed in rather than added later
  • Commissioning. Load testing before anything of yours goes in, with the results recorded

We are equally happy taking the whole facility or taking one package and integrating cleanly with the other contractors on site.

Standards and suppliers

We design to a rated standard and we tell you which one. If the budget will not carry the rating you asked for, you hear that at design stage rather than at commissioning.

Common questions

Can you upgrade a live facility?

Yes. Most data centre work we do is an upgrade rather than a new build, which means phasing, temporary provisions and a rollback plan for every change window. We will show you the sequence before we start.

What availability can you design to?

Whatever you need, once you tell us what an hour of downtime costs you. That number, not a preference, is what justifies N+1 or 2N. We would rather have that conversation than quietly design to the budget.

Do you size for today's load or tomorrow's?

Both. We size the infrastructure for the growth curve and stage the fit-out. Buying full capacity on day one wastes money; designing without headroom costs far more in year three.

Who does the civil and mechanical work?

We can hold the whole scope including civil and mechanical interfaces, or take the IT and low current packages and coordinate with your contractors. Either way one party is accountable for the interfaces.

Will it be commissioned under load?

Yes, with results recorded. A facility that has never been tested under load is a facility nobody has actually proven.

What do we get at handover?

As-builts, circuit schedules, rack elevations, commissioning results, cooling records and O&M documentation. If your team cannot operate the room from that pack, we have not finished.
